Rename the latest release and subscription plan

Live2D Inc. will release Live2D Cubism 4, the latest version of Live2D Cubism, in early September.

New in Live2D Cubism 4

The Cubism 4 Editor comes with new video features that allow users to achieve the expressiveness of hand-drawn animation, including features, which enable users to edit models directly from the timeline, such as “Form Animation,” “Onion Skin,” “Frame Step,” and “Image Sequence Track.” In addition, using the “ArtPath” function, which allows the creation of lines within the Editor, enables users to express more freely with lines and truly to their illustrations.

Cubism 4 SDK supports the new function “Extended interpolation”. It is possible to interpolate not only straight lines but also curved lines between key forms, and realize natural motion expression without shrinking the texture when expressing swaying objects. In addition, it supports "mask reversal" using a clipping mask, so you can draw "cut out" expressions in real time.

About free trial of Cubism Editor PRO version

Cubism 4 Editor offers a 42-day free PRO trial.

This is also available for customers who have already experienced the PRO trial of Cubism 3 Editor.

About past versions

After Cubism 4 Editor is released, Cubism Editor 3.2 (backward compatible with 3.0 and 3.1) and 3.3 final version will continue to be released.

The Cubism 4 SDK, which is scheduled to be released at the same time, is backward compatible with the Cubism 3 SDK.

Cubism Editor 3.0, Cubism Editor 3.1, Cubism 3 SDK, and Cubism 2 SDK will be discontinued, but we will continue to respond to inquiries to customers who are using the service.

Cubism 4 Editor system requirements

• * 1. Only for macOS, when the width exceeds 4096 pixels and the height is 2304 pixels, video cannot be exported.
• * 2. 800MB or more free space may be required for temporary data storage or export, such as automatic backup.
• * 3. On-board GPU (Intel HD Graphics etc.) may not work properly.

• * Cubism 4 Editor may not work properly if some software is installed on macOS. See below for details:

Rename subscription

With the release of Cubism 4, the name of the current subscription plan will be changed as follows.

• * Subscriptions to current customers will also be changed to Live2D Cubism PRO after Cubism 4 is released.
• * New consumption tax will be applied to payments made on and after October 1, 2019.
• * In Live2D Store, “atone”, which can be paid at the convenience store for the following month, is limited to indie (only for general users).

Always access the latest version with the same license

Customers with a Cubism PRO subscription plan can use the latest version of Cubism 4 Editor PRO with the same license key. Customers under contract can use AE plug-ins and previous versions of Cubism 3 Editor PRO as shown in the table below.
