Live2D Inc. (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; CEO: Tetsuya Nakajo), a pioneer in 2D illustration animation technology, is excited to announce the launch of “Shape the Future,” a new year-long project marking its 20th anniversary and centering around the “future” of creators.

Year-Long Connected Initiatives

Under the “Shape the Future” project, we will be rolling out a variety of future-focused initiatives throughout the coming year. Our goal is to explore new creative horizons together with our creative community. The project title, “Shape the Future,” reflects our aspiration to collaboratively craft the evolving future of Live2D as an artform.
A special website launches today, where we will provide the latest information and updates on upcoming initiatives over the course of the year.

Research Report: “20 Years of Creative Impact”

Since 2006, we have made it our mission to help creators expand what’s possible.
Our product has grown beyond being just software-thanks to the vibrant community of creators, it has grown into a new artform that has given rise to new careers, markets, and cultural movements. In partnership with KADOKAWA ASCII Research Laboratories Inc., we took a closer look at the current landscape.

Original Anthem, “Shape the Future”

To kick off this anniversary project, and as a tribute to the creators who’ve journeyed with us over two decades – and to envision our future together – we have produced an original theme song, “Shape the Future”.

The song was produced by the Aniplex SS Team, with lyrics and composition by Tomoya Tabuchi and arrangement by Shota Horie. Vocals are performed by VTuber Machita Chima (NIJISANJI), who herself uses Live2D in her own streams.

The music video features character animation entirely animated using Live2D. Character design, modeling, and animation were created by ituka (@1_tuka), Grand Prix winner of the Live2D Creative Awards 2017. From just 2 detailed drawings, ituka created Live2D models capable of limitless emotional expression, delivering a visually dynamic and emotionally resonant representation of the song’s spirit.

Video direction was led by Okiku (@__Lizel), an innovative creator known for producing numerous hit music videos using Live2D. With a unique sense for translating musical worlds into visual experiences, Okiku masterfully blends the emotional animation with the music, resulting in a moving experience.

The music video will premiere at “alive”—Live2D’s special event for creators in Tokyo—on Friday, December 12, 2025, and will be released on YouTube from 12:30 PM JST the same day. The song will then be available globally across major music streaming platforms.
